In 1974, Robert Cartelli opened the first Fathers & Sons dealership in West Springfield with only six employees. The initial franchises included Saab, Volvo, Audi, and Porsche. Volkswagen was added in 1991, and the Kia franchise was taken on in 1997. Robert grew the dealerships to what they are today.
Robert's son, Damon, began working at Fathers & Sons when he was only 14 performing a variety of duties including managing the lot, washing cars, and working in the service department. After graduating from Boston College in 1994, Damon joined his father selling cars and honing his skills to be the successor in the family business. He received a diploma from the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Dealer Candidate Academy in 1998 and was named General Manager in 2001.
Damon Cartelli is now President, owner, and General Manager of the Fathers & Sons dealerships in West Springfield which include: Fathers & Sons Volkswagen at 434 Memorial Avenue, Kia of West Springfield at 468 Memorial Avenue, and Fathers & Sons Collection at 989 Memorial Avenue which houses the Porsche, Audi, Volvo, and Saab franchises. Robert Cartelli is now President, owner, and General Manager of Toyota and Ford of Greenfield located at 1 Main Street in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Kimberlynn Cartelli is the Director of Marketing. The family members strive each day in their individual roles to offer the utmost in customer satisfaction. Many of the almost 200 employees have been with the company for at least 20 years which is a comfort to returning customers and a testament to the culture of the business. At least 80% of the customer base are repeat buyers, which lends credibility to the mantra that "we want to keep our customers happy for life."
